There are a number of things you can try if you are having trouble loading, viewing, or submitting exercises. Please try the following options:
- Clear your internet history and reload the web page. This guide will walk you through it.
- Make sure you are using an updated version of one of these browsers: Chrome, Firefox, or Safari. We no longer support Internet Explorer.
- Please also test an incognito/private version of your browser to help rule out a browser extension issue.
- Test a different browser type than you typically use to help rule out a browser-specific issue.
- If Codecademy won’t open in Chrome but works in other browsers or in Incognito mode, the issue is usually caused by corrupted site data. You can fix this without clearing your entire browsing history.

- Open Codecademy in Chrome.
- Click the site controls icon (the small circle with sliders) on the left side of the address bar.
- In the menu, select Cookies and site data.
- Choose Manage cookies and site data.
- Click Remove next to
codecademy.com. - Refresh the page.
- Check your Internet connection. We recommend that you have a reasonably fast connection to the internet. Any broadband connection, like DSL or cable, should be sufficient.

Some browser extensions and add-ons may interact with our site and cause issues within our Learning Environment.
- Google Translate can sometimes cause issues
- Popular dark mode extensions can interfere with the code on our site (CSS in particular).
- The Malwarebytes Browser Guard extension is known to cause issues in our Learning Environment such as not allowing you to type or the cursor to disappear.
- We recommend disabling any add-ons or extensions while using Codecademy.

- If you are working from a school or work computer, a firewall could be preventing you from accessing our learning environment. In this case, do check in with your IT department.
- If possible, test out the site on a different device (another computer or a cell phone) to help rule out a device specific issue.
