What will the Data Science path teach me?

This path is great for anyone trying to use code to be more data-driven. You will learn SQL and Python and build the skills you need to query, analyze, and visualize data. The path includes:

  • Learn SQL
    • In this course, you'll learn how to communicate with relational databases through SQL. You'll learn—and practice with 4 projects—how to manipulate data and build queries that communicate with more than one table.
  • SQL: Table Transformation
    • In this course created in partnership with Looker, you'll learn more about manipulating data stored in relational databases using SQL. You will become familiarized with subqueries, set operations, conditional aggregates, and more.
  • SQL: Analyzing Business Metrics
    • In this course created in partnership with Periscope, you'll get exposed to the basics of data analysis. You'll go through several workflows that will allow you to dissect and understand large amounts of data.
  • Learn Python
    • This course is a great introduction to both fundamental programming concepts and the Python programming language. By the end, you'll be familiar with Python syntax and you'll be able to put into practice what you'll have learned in a final project you'll develop locally.
  • Learn Matplotlib
    • By the end of this course, you'll be able to efficiently create and save two-dimensional plots in Python by using simple commands.
  • Learn Pandas: Aggregates
    • In this course, you will learn how to perform calculations that summarize multiple rows of data in a Pandas DataFrame. After learning how to summarize your entire dataset, you'll delve into groupings of data, which allow you to summarize subsets of data that have something in common. You'll also learn how to create pivot tables, a good way of summarizing the relationship between two columns of data.
  • Learn Pandas: Working with Multiple Tables
    • In this course, you will learn how to combine multiple DataFrames by merging or concatenating. You'll learn about three different types of merges: inner, left, and outer. You'll also learn how to stack data from multiple DataFrames.
  • Learn NumPy: Introduction
    • In this course, you will learn the basics of NumPy, Python module for performing numerical operations on large quantities of data. You'll learn how to create, the basic data type in NumPy. You'll also learn how to perform calculations like addition, subtraction, or selection.
  • Learn NumPy: Basic Statistics
    • In this course, you will learn about different types of statistical calculation, including mean, median, percentiles, and standard deviation. Next, you'll explore common statistical distributions such as the normal and binomial distributions. You'll also explore histograms, a great way of visualizing large quantities of numerical data.
